Irish swimmer Daniel Wiffen scalped his third gold medal at the European short course swimming championships on Sunday as broke the world record in the 800m freestyle event that was intact for the last 15 years. Wiffen overtook Australian Grant Hackett's record that was set in 2008 by almost three seconds, clocking 7min 20.46sec to set a world record. The 22-year-old added the 800m title to the golds he claimed earlier this week in Otopeni, Romania, in the 400m and 1500m freestyle.
