Chasing just 99 for victory, India opened with Ishwari Awsare and G Kamilini. but the move did not pay dividends as the former was run-out for a duck.
Sanika Chalke, who was sent in at No.3, also had to make the walk back for just four as Chamudi P Munasinghe sent her packing.
G Trisha and Kamilini then stitched a match-winning partnership to take India to safe shores, however Trisha fell after a well-made, 24-ball 32.
India, troubled at one point, reached the finish line to victory, with four wickets and overs to 5.1 overs spare.
Early on, after winning the toss and bowling, The Niki Prasad-led India restricted Sri Lanka to just 98 for the loss of nine wickets in 20 overs.
Aayushi Shukla starred with four wickets, while Parunika Sisodia picked two, and Drithi Kesari, Shabnam Md Shakil got a wicket each.
