Australia's star all-rounder Glenn Maxwell lit up the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 as his double hundred helped the five-time champions to seal a spot in the semis as well as win the match by three wickets in an enthralling contest at the Wankhede stadium. Set a total of 293 to chase, the Aussies were all over the place and were 91/7 at one point of time. (Highlights | Scorecard | Pics | Full Coverage)

However, Maxwell slammed an unbeaten 201 that included 10 sixes and 21 fours. The 35-year-old shared a 202-run stand with skipper Pat Cummins (12 off 68 balls) for the eight wicket as Australia romped home to a sensational win.

The 'Big Show' survived few dropped catches in the outfield with one including Mujeeb Ur Rahman who dropped an easy catch at short fine leg. Maxwell was batting on 33 at that time and he made up for the dropped chance to hit the Afghan bowlers to all across the Wankhede stadium.

Following his monumental effort in Mumbai, fans in the stadium gave 'Maxi' a grand reception as he walked upstairs to the dressing room.

Following his blistering kock of 201, he also became the first Aussie player to slam a double century in ODI cricket. Furthermore, Maxwell's knock is also the second-fastest 200 in the ODIs, after India's Ishan Kishan (126 balls).
