You figure out early enough why LikeThatOnly is named so. A bright red scooter greets you at the door, followed by an installation featuring a vintage bathtub fused with a gramophone. It’s all very irreverent and charming, and all the ooh-ing and aah-ing over the eccentric interiors spread over a multi-level space had us working up an exotic appetite. On a pleasant Bangalore evening, we chose to dine under the stars, picking a table in the outdoor area, with a flickering candle for company.
The menu is heavy on Asian flavours (with a helpful kids section), so for starters, we decided to go with Tofu & Asian Greens Taco (Rs 235) and General Tso’s Chicken (Rs 310). Both worked splendidly, well-flavoured as they were; the former with a delicate dressing, the latter, crisp fried chicken tossed in hoisin and chilli sauce had a definite zing.

For mains, I had my heart set on Curried Vegetable Pot Pie (Rs 455), which turned out to be a nice blend of textures, a crusty puff pastry cradling creamy crunchy veggies, paired with a fresh salad. The Filipino Chicken Sizzling (Rs 525), grilled chicken breast with Jasmine rice and fried egg, though dramatic looking, was a bit dry. The Teriyaki Glazed Wild Mushrooms (Rs 455) was memorable, the sauteed seasonal vegetables well done, the flat noodles spiked with the robust spicy tobanjan sauce. To the restaurant’s credit, the portions were so satisfying that we couldn’t manage even a bite of dessert. From what we hear, we need to return for their Bitter Orange & Chocolate Torte. We will.
