- Drink at least four to eight glasses of water a day; eat 3-6 small balanced meals a day; choose diets rich in vegetables and fruits; manage your calories by following low-fat and high-fibre diets; don’t use more than half-a-kg oil per person per month; excess salt is bad for the heart, take no more than 6 gm of salt a day; do not overcook food or reheat it very often; avoid snacking and eating out; drink less coffee/tea/aerated drinks/alcohol.
- Quit Smoking.
- Drink alcohol in moderation: Men—720 ml beer or 300 ml wine or 60 ml whisky per day.
Women—half the above requirement.
