There have been no telephone directories for Bombay and Delhi since 1994.
The directory contractor, M&N, has paid only part of the royalty due to MTNL, but MTNL is not following up.
M&N has not paid laid-down penal charges for the delay in the publication of the directory.
The directories have been printed on cheaper paper than specified in the agreement, but no action has been taken.
M&N may have delivered only 30% of the directories it claims to have delivered.Canadian partner Tele Direct has pulled out of M&N. One of the reasons: the Indian partner has been unable to "sway the Government as much as they had expected."
