Will you support the BJP Government?
After December 6, 1992, it is not possible to imagine that the BJP will provide a secular Government. Hence, there is no question of supporting it. It would be more honourable for a person of Vajpayee's stature to meet the President and tender his resignation instead of going through the sham process of the Speaker's election. With the election of Deve Gowda as the leader and the CWC resolution to support his candidature, there is no scope for the BJP Government. The Speaker's election has no point. The recent statements of Bal Thackeray threatening others to support the parivar is quite disconcerting. Vajpayee should take the lead in restraining such voices of divisive violence.
What are your options?
We will join the government headed by Deve Gowda. Of course there are differences between us and the Janata Dal as well as the CPM. But for the sake of a secular government, we have to overlook those differences.
What gives you the confidence to rely on the Congress for sustained support?
Ground realities. Further, there cannot be 136 betrayers.
