- Mehr amount should be payable in property, gold, silver, shares or some security instead of prevalent currency.
- The husband should agree that neither he nor his relatives would ask the wife to waive the mehr amount at any time.
- Mehr amount can never be decreased.
- The husband should agree not to take recourse to triple talaq except by prescribed procedures. Or, he will have to pay triple the mehr amount.
- The husband will not contract another marriage while still married to his first wife without her consent. If so hewill have to pay his first wife triple the mehr amount.
- The first wife has first right over the matrimonial home and will not have to share it with the second wife.
- The wife will have the first option in terms of custody rights of children.
- The right to divorce unilaterally shall be delegated to the wife by the husband.
