Uttar Pradesh
Congress to reopen its account in Uttar Pradesh. There is some shift in Muslim votes from the Samajwadi Party to Congress. The extent of the shift in the next couple of weeks will decide the final tally in the state. The Congress and the BSP together would have been a potent force.
Andhra Pradesh
That populism pays is well known. But whether performance also pays is in test in Andhra Pradesh. The TDP's persistently positive campaign seems to have reversed the trend. The Congress may be in for a surprise.
Bihar
Despite polarisation of parties against Laloo Prasad Yadav, the RJD seems to be holding on to its vote base. (But with Ram Vilas Paswan and Sharad Yadav joining the BJP and the Samata Party, they could make a difference in a few seats).
Punjab
The Akali Dal seems to be weighed down by a strong anti-incumbency phenomenon. Gurcharan Singh Tohra has not made any significant impact among voters as yet.
Gujarat
Though a BJP stronghold, the current turmoil could see the BJP lose more than a couple of seats to Congress.
