Posters labelling Rahul Gandhi as a “supporter of terror” have been put up at several locations, including near the congress office and the local bus stand ahead of his visit to Amethi on Wednesday. Police officials have been deployed in the area to curtail political tensions that have stirred up due to the provocative posters.

The posters have been put up in the Congress MP’s former Lok Sabha constituency in light of his recent remarks pertaining to the Pahalgam terror attack. The police had been alerted to prevent such incidents but posters stating “Aatank ka saathi Rahul Gandhi” were put up earlier this morning. According to officials, police were deployed to prevent the circulation of such material but their efforts fell short. Those who are behind this incident are yet to be identified.

Similar posters have appeared across Uttar Pradesh against INDI Alliance leaders for their statements allegedly in favour of Pakistan.

The Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha is on a two-day visit to Rae Bareli, after which he will proceed to Amethi before arriving in Kanpur.
