Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday held a telephonic conversation with his British counterpart Rishi Sunak as India gears up for the G20 summit later this year. The two prime ministers reviewed the progress in the trade and economic sectors.

“PM Modi raised the issue of security of Indian diplomatic establishments in the UK and called for strong action against anti-India elements by the UK Government,” read an official release from the Prime Minister’s Office. The issue pertains to recent pro-Khalistani activities abroad, including protests outside the Indian High Commission in London where a group of people smashed windows and took down the Indian flag.

The two leaders reviewed the progress of a number of bilateral issues, particularly in trade and economic sectors, officials said. Modi also sought progress on the return of economic offenders.

Meanwhile, British PM Rishi Sunak reiterated the UK's full support for India's ongoing G20 presidency.
