KLF Book Awards 2022: Sanjeev Sanyal, Hindol Sengupta Among Awardees, Writers Across Genres To Be Awarded

Writers across several genres, such as fiction, non-fiction, environment, and biography, will be felicitated at the annual Kalinga Literary Festival (KLF) on February 24-26 in Bhubaneswar.

Writers such as Sanjeev Sanyal and Hindol Sengupta will be awarded for their books at the KLF Book Awards at the upcoming Kalinga Literary Festival (KLF). 

The KLF is an annual literary festival that has expanded internationally as well. The upcoming edition will be held on February 24-26 at Swosti Premium Hotel,  Bhubaneswar. The KLF Book Awards were introduced in the year 2021. 

This year, the KLF Book Awards will be given in a number of categories, such as Non-fiction, Fiction Poetry Book, Book in Hindi language, Book in Translation, Bhasa First Book, Business Book, Envi-ronmental Book, Biography/Autobiography, Children Book, Sports Book, Lifestyle, and Emerging Trend Books.

Though KLF in Odisha is the flagship event of the organisers, their other events are Kalinga Literary Festival -Kathmandu, Mystic Kalinga Festival, Kandhamal Literary Festival, Maithili Literary Festival. 

"Annual Kalinga Literary Festival and Mystic Kalinga Festival celebrates the creative spirit of India and commemorates the literary diversity it offers, bringing it in conversation with the best minds in the world of literature within and outside of Odisha and India. Authors, academics, policymakers, literary cultural, political and social activists, lawmakers, government officials, corporate leaders, spiritual thinkers, students and people from all walks of life immerse in the vibrant atmosphere of the festival and exchange opinions on their favourite authors and works," said a statement from the organisers.

Besides Sanyal and Sengupta, some of the others to be awarded at KLF Book Awards are Akshaya Mukul, Kailash Satyarthi, Pankaj Chaturvedi, Farah Bashir, Ranjana Niraula, and KR Meera. 

Announcing the awards, KLF's Founder and Director Rashmi Ranjan Parida said the purpose of the KLF Book Awards is to contribute to debates and discourses in the national and global literary public sphere.

“We received hundreds of fantastic books and the jury members had a difficult time in choosing the best in each category. The path-breaking and thought-provoking contributions have been identified as best representatives in their respective categories. The objective of KLF Book Awards have been to contribute to debates and dis-courses in the national and global literary public sphere and encourage more reflective, thoughtful, and inspir-ing contributions. Dedicated sessions are planned on these books by the authors and erudite reviewers to enrich the literary and intellectual atmosphere at the Kalinga Literary Festival,” said Parida, as per KLF's press release.
