Spokesperson of the Chinese Embassy in India Counselor Ji Rong, on Thursday, expressed his "strong dissatisfaction" that some Indian media referred to Taiwan as "country" whereas it's an internationally recognised norm that Taiwan is an "inalienable part of China."

Calling it a "wrong practice", Rong clarified China’s principle and position in his statement to the Indian Press.

"These reports openly advocated “two Chinas” and “one China, one Taiwan” which seriously challenges the red line of the One-China principle."

"Chinese Embassy expresses its strong dissatisfaction and resolute opposition (to such misreporting)," he said.

Rong, in his statement, clarified that there is "only one China in the world", while the Indian media reports wrongly terming "India-Taiwan relations" as relations between the “two countries”, and the representative of Taipei Economic and Cultural Center in India as so-called “ambassador”.

In his statement, Rong said, "the Government of the People’s Republic of China is the only legitimate government representing the whole of China. Taiwan is an inalienable part of China's territory. It is an objective fact and a universally recognized norm governing international relations and the general consensus of the international community. It is also the long-standing position of the Indian Government."

He in his statement urged the Indian media houses to take cognizance of the seriousness of the problem and take a right stance on issues concerning China's sovereignty and territorial integrity, adhere to the One-China principle.

"Do not provide a platform for “Taiwan independence forces”, immediately take steps to correct their mistakes and offset the negative effect these reports have caused," he said.
