Chennai: Schools, Colleges To Remain Closed Tomorrow As City Continues To Grapple With Flood

In light of the devastating effects of the flood situation in Chennai as an aftermath of Cyclone Michaung, a holiday has been declared for schools and colleges on Friday as well. As per media reports, several areas of the city has been facing power disruptions.

In response to the floods, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has directed the Union Home Ministry to release the second instalment of Rs 450 crore to Tamil Nadu for cyclone relief.

Flood situation in Chennai

Owing to the impact of Cyclone Michaung, Chennai witnessed incessant rainfall on both Monday and Tuesday which resulted into massive inundation, streets transforming into rivers, trees and electric poles being uprooted, and vehicles either swept away or completely submerged.
