BSF Officer Attacked By Cattle Smugglers In Tripura Dies

Border Security Force (BSF) commanding officer Deepak Mondal who was attacked by smugglers along the India-Bangladesh border in Tripura earlier this week has succumbed to his injuries, reported ANI. 

Deepak, belonged to the 145th battalion of the BSF and was on his routine visit to the border area of the Sonamura (Tripura) Police Station, when the smugglers equipped with bricks and lathis attacked him on Monday.

Later, he was airlifted to Kolkata for treatment.

BSF reports say, Mondal was attacked because he challenged a group of people, who were smuggling cattle along the border areas.

Last month, a BSF  head constable was killed allegedly by cattle smugglers in the Angrail area of North 24 Parganas district in West Bengal.
