According to PTI, an under-construction bridge over the Mechi River, connecting Araria and Kishanganj districts in Bihar, caved in near NH-327E on June 24. Following that, the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) on Sunday suspended four officials who were part of the project.

Another under-construction bridge, which was supposed to connect Khagaria district with Bhagalpur, collapsed on June 4. The State government slapped a show cause notice on the construction company concerned. Reportedly, a portion of this bridge collapsed on April 30 last year as well.

Chief Minister of Bihar, Nitish Kumar told the media after the bridge collapse of June 4, “This is not the first time that the bridge collapsed.
