Two months on, Kerala CM Oommen Chandy is suddenly facing a credibility crisis prompted by his refusal to drop sex scam-accused industry minister P.K. Kunhalikutty. The Congress’ own leaders are now seeking the Muslim League minister’s ouster. But the CM can dump him only at the UDF government’s peril. The League might pull out rather than sacrifice its legislature party leader. Chandy was hoping the din would settle down with time but matters came to a head with the attacks on media persons by League workers. Also, a fresh probe has now been sought. Once it happens, Kunhalikutty may be forced to step down. All eyes are on League supremo, Panakkad Shihab Thangal, who holds the key now.
