Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday announced that his party will contest the upcoming Bihar elections alone and stated that AAP’s ties with the INDI alliance was only for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Addressing a press conference, Kejriwal said that the “INDIA bloc was only for the Lok Sabha polls. There is no alliance with the Congress now. If there was an alliance then why did Congress contest in Visavadar bypolls. They came to defeat us. The BJP sent Congress to defeat us and cut the votes."

In the recent bypolls, AAP fielded its candidate Gopal Italia from the Visavadar seat who won the election by a margin of 17,581 votes against BJP’s Kirit Patel. Congress Nitin Ranpariya finished in third place.

Both the AAP and Congress fought the Delhi and Haryana Assembly elections independently.

BJP national spokesperson Ajay Alok said that "Biharis and Purvanchalis shaved off Arvind Kejriwal's head in Delhi and drove him out of Delhi, but that was not enough for him. How much will you use Punjab’s ATM? Punjab is already drowning in debt.”

"If Kejriwal comes to Bihar, he will understand his political standing. Welcome to Bihar," he added.
