Actor Himanshu Goel is stepping into a more layered dramatic space with Sachin Gupta’s upcoming period thriller Chapter 9 1835. Produced by Chilsag Studios, the film places Goel at the centre of an emotionally demanding narrative set against the backdrop of 19th-century colonial India. The period setting is expected to bring its own set of challenges for the actors, particularly as the story moves beyond a straightforward historical narrative to explore the emotional and psychological dimensions of its characters.
Rather than presenting a conventional hero-driven story, the project explores complex relationships, internal conflicts and hidden motives within its historical setting. Goel’s character is expected to require significant emotional shifts, making the role a departure from the more familiar leading-man space. Goel will be joined by Premvada Kant, Charul Malik and Mishty Elani in pivotal roles. Director Sachin Gupta, a Natya Bhushan Award recipient and founder of Chilsag Entertainment Network, has a background spanning theatre, writing and filmmaking. His directorial credits include Paranthe Wali Gali and Thoda Lutf Thoda Ishq. His theatre background also informs the film’s emphasis on character-driven storytelling and performance.
Goel’s previous lead performance in the 2025 feature Sundarnagar Ki Sundari established another chapter in his screen journey. With Chapter 9 1835, the actor now takes on a role that places greater emphasis on psychological depth and dramatic transformation. The project therefore marks another opportunity for him to move into a different dramatic register and explore a character that demands greater emotional complexity.
