Marazzo: Mahindra’s Best Bet In The MPV Segment?

Mahindra recently unveiled its upcoming MPV, the Marazzo, which promises to be a premium offering, unlike its previous MPVs, such as the TUV300 Plus and Xylo. Its teaser images not only assure of a striking design and premium interiors, but also of modern creature comforts. The Marazzo is set to launch some time before Diwali, so expect it to reach showrooms within the next couple of months. We list down five reasons why the Mahindra Marazzo could be a better people-mover than any other Mahindra MPV till date.

Mahindra’s first monocoque MPV

After the XUV500 and KUV100, the Marazzo will be the third Mahindra vehicle built on a monocoque chassis. This should result in better driving dynamics (read less body roll and more direct steering) and car-like stability. For perspective, other seven-seaters from Mahindra, such as the TUV300 Plus, Scorpio and Bolero are based on a ladder-frame chassis.

Ready for crash test norms

Come 2020, the Indian automotive industry will be subject to several stricter safety standards. The new monocoque platform will not only result in better driveability but better safety as well. Mahindra offers six airbags with the XUV500 and we expect the Marazzo to get more than just the dual front airbags, at least in its top variant.

Feature loaded

The Marazzo will be the most feature-loaded Mahindra MPV till date. Mahindra has already revealed some of the features that the Marazzo will get. These include projector headlamps, LED daytime running lamps, perforated leatherette seats, instrument cluster with a larger colour MID and a unique roof-integrated surround cooling system. No more details regarding its feature list are out, but it could also get the same goodies as the Scorpio or the XUV500, such as a 7-inch touchscreen unit with Android Auto, tyre pressure monitoring system and more.

Spacious

Mahindra, during the Marazzo’s naming press conference, revealed that it has the largest footprint among all the Mahindra passenger vehicles ever produced. And given Mahindra’s reputation for making spacious vehicles, we can safely assume that the space inside the Marazzo should be generous for all seven passengers.

Targeted at private buyers and not commercial

Even though Mahindra will offer the Marazzo with a diesel engine only, the carmaker says it is also developing a petrol engine for the upcoming MPV. Mahindra is targeting the private buyer with the Marazzo - something that can’t be said about any previous Mahindra MPV. More so because Mahindra has recently introduced the TUV300 Plus. The carmaker will also offer a ‘virtually new’ diesel engine on the Marazzo at the time of launch.

No direct competitor

Also, thanks to its expected sticker price of Rs 10 lakh to Rs 15 lakh, the Marazzo will be aimed at premium car buyers. If Mahindra can manage this pricing, the Marazzo will slot in between the second-gen Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and the existing Toyota Innova Crysta.

So, we have enough reasons to believe that the Marazzo is Mahindra’s best attempt at a modern MPV for private owners. Let us know your opinion about the Marazzo in the comments section below.
