On the occasion of Dulquer Salmaan's birthday on July 28, 2025, the actor has treated his fans with the teaser of his upcoming film, Kaantha. Set in 1950s Madras, the retro drama is directed by Selvaraj Selvamani, and also stars Samuthirakani in a pivotal role.
Kaantha teaser
The teaser for Kaantha starts with the announcement of a horror film titled Saantha, the first horror film being made in Tamil/Telugu. Samuthirakani plays a legendary filmmaker, who is fondly called Ayya. He seems to be unhappy with the film’s cast. In one scene when Bhagyashri Borse's character asks Chandran (Salmaan) why they are not in talking terms with each other, there are flashbacks of him receiving training from Ayya. Chandran then tells Borse that no one respects him as much as he does.
Ayya is seen misbehaving with Chandran and in one scene, he is even seen throwing a chair at him. He decides to make the female actor (Borse) the 'hero' and 'heroine’ of the film. Towards the end of the teaser, Chandran tells the studio that the film will now be called Kaantha, not Saantha. The teaser hints that that will be a ego clash between two towering giants.

Apart from directing, Selvaraj Selvamani has also penned the script. Rana Daggubati, Dulquer Salmaan, Prashanth Potluri and Jom Varghese have served as the producers of the Tamil-Telugu bilingual film under Spirit Media and Wayfarer Films. Jhanu Chanthar has composed the music for the film and Dani Sanchez-Lopez has taken care of the cinematography, making each shots filled with grandeur. It will hit theatres on September 12, 2025.
Earlier today, Dulquer had also shared the teaser of his production, Lokah Chapter One: Chandra, starring Kalyani Priyadarshan and Naslen.
Dulquer Salmaan’s was last seen in Lucky Baskhar. He will also be seen in upcoming Malayalam film I’m Game.
