Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif has revealed details about her career's initial days. She claimed that fellow actress Malaika Arora was a “role model” figure to her during the start of her modelling days in Mumbai.

In a conversation with Mashable India, the 'Tiger 3' actress took a trip down memory lane. She revealed that she moved to Mumbai with the intention of only becoming a model. Acting was never on the cards for her; it only happened to her by accident.

“When I started off as a model in Bombay, my intention was to be a model. My role models were Madhu Sapre and Lakshmi Menon. Those were the supermodels of that time. And even Malaika actually. She was still modelling at that time. They were the women I looked up to. And that's what I wanted to be as a model,” Katrina said.

While two have never worked together, they shared an unusual connection at one point in time in their personal lives. While Katrina was dating her 'Tiger 3' co-star Salman Khan, Malaika was married to Salman's brother Arbaaz Khan. Now, Katrina tied the knot with actor Vicky Kaushal in 2021, and Malaika ended her marriage in 2017, subsequently dating actor Arjun Kapoor.

During the same interview, the host also asked Katrina if she is fond of road trips. To this, she said, “I did 'Zindagi Naa Milega Dobara,' that was a road trip to Spain. It is a life changing experience, that’s all I can say. I had learnt a little bit here on Reclamation [Bandra] when you used to be able to ride bikes late night." When asked who taught her how to ride a bike, she joked, "That will remain a secret."

Malaika started her career off in 1997 as a VJ on MTV, and then went on to become a model. She made her Bollywood debut with the iconic song 'Chaiyya Chaiyya' alongside Shah Rukh Khan in 'Dil Se' (1998). Malaika featured in many dance songs in movies for the next 25 years. She was also seen in the reality series 'Moving in with Malaika' last year. She will now be seen in a special appearance in 'Kho Gaye Hum Kahan,' set to release on December 26.

On the other hand, Katrina will be seen sharing screen space with actor Vijay Sethupathi in the upcoming film 'Merry Christmas.'

The trailer of the film was unveiled recently. It has already garnered immense praise. Directed by Sriram Raghavan, the film will release in theatres on January 12, 2024.
