'Dunki' box office collection day 2: Shah Rukh Khan's latest film ‘Dunki’, helmed by Rajkumar Hirani, is faring well at the box office ever since its release on December 21. However, if you compare it with SRK’s earlier 2023 releases, ‘Jawan’ and ‘Pathaan’, his latest release ‘Dunki’ has certainly been struggling to bring the audience to the theatre.

As per an early estimate report on Sacnilk.com, the film has collected around Rs 20 crore on Friday, as it witnessed a dip at the box office after opening at Rs 30 crore on the first day. Clearly, the total earnings of the film is around Rs 49.20 crore so far.

According to the report, ‘Dunki’ also witnessed an overall occupancy of 31.22 percent (Hindi) on Friday. Mumbai and Chennai experienced the highest occupancy among other cities across India. Film trade analyst Ramesh Bala also wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter), “Early estimates for Dunki day 2 all-India NBOC is ₹21 crore+ NBOC weekend will be big.”

As for ‘Dunki’, the film is a comedy-drama based on an illegal immigration technique 'donkey flight'. Apart from Shah Rukh, the film also stars Taapsee Pannu, Vicky Kaushal, Boman Irani, Vikram Kochhar and Anil Grover. Considered to be a saga of friendships, borders, nostalgia for home, the film is written by Rajkumar Hirani along with Abhijaat Joshi and Kanika Dhillon.

Interestingly, ‘Dunki’ is Shah Rukh's third and last release of this year. However, it is his lowest film opening of 2023 amid high expectations since ‘Dunki’ marks his first collaboration with Rajkumar Hirani. It is also the first time that SRK is sharing screen space with Taapsee.

Nonetheless, there is a silver lining as the film is working better overseas and earned Rs 58 crore on its first day. Sharing the collection, Shah Rukh Khan's wife and co-producer of Dunki, Gauri Khan mentioned, "Winning love worldwide! 58 crore worldwide GBOC." The caption read in Hindi, "Came from a long distance... Now it seems that we will go a long distance, with your love...Watch #Dunki - In Cinemas Now!"
