Noting that Kerala is visible before the world as a preferred investment destination, Minister for Industries, Law and Coir, Shri P Rajeeve, today said a comprehensive roadmap and action plan will be prepared for the implementation of ‘Vision 2031.’

Shri Rajeeve was speaking at the valedictory of the day-long industries seminar ‘Vision 2031’ organised as part of the State Government’s thematic deliberations at Kazhakoottam near here.

The event was organised by the Department of Industries and Commerce, in association with the Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC), the Kerala Bureau of Industrial Promotion (K-BIP), and the Kerala Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (KINFRA).

Highlighting the government's aim for inclusive industrialisation, the Minister said that, as part of the industrial corridor, a furniture industrial park will be set up by incorporating the state's furniture cluster.

Shri Rajeeve attributed the remarkable changes happening in the industries sector of Kerala to the cooperation of entrepreneurs and industrial and labour communities.

Revealing the outcomes of the event, Shri Rajeeve said KSIDC will be revamped into two verticals—for loans and investments-under two executive directors.

“Apart from the proposed Skill University, a Skill Development Park that will provide free training, accommodation and food to 1600 people will be set up in Kalamassery. The facility will give special consideration for the children of employees of PSUs, who can also utilise it for upskilling,” he informed.

Shri Rajeeve said a structured platform for startups and related companies can be considered as part of ‘Vision 2031’ to help them scale up from the state.

“Comprehensive discussions on various sectors and topics, including Vizhinjam’s potential, cashew, handloom, bamboo and trade sectors, were held in the seminar. Such events will be conducted based on the demand for products from traditional industries,” he added.

Summing up the discussions for the day, Shri APM Mohammed Hanish IAS, Principal Secretary, Industries & Commerce, said Kerala, which is already ahead in ‘Ease of Doing Business,’ will be giving priority to ‘Speed of Doing Business’ in the next phase.

Shri Hanish added that the state is giving prominence to sustainable and responsible investments, as well as industry-focused activities.

Shri Vishnuraj P, IAS, Managing Director, KSIDC & Director, DIC, welcomed the gathering and Shri Harikrishnan R, IRTS, Executive Director, KSIDC, proposed a vote of thanks.

Smt Annie Jula Thomas, Officer on Special Duty, Industries Department and Director, Coir Dept., and Shri Santhosh Koshy Thomas, MD, KINFRA, were also present.

The seminar marked a milestone in the state government’s efforts to present a coherent, long-term industrial vision that aligns with Kerala’s broader economic and social transformation goals.

The panel discussions focused on positioning Kerala as a knowledge-driven, technology-enabled industrial hub, promoting sustainability and resilience, and strengthening the link between research, entrepreneurship, and employment.
