The convention will see the participation of Shri Swapan Dasgupta, Hon'ble Minister-in-Charge, Finance, Government of West Bengal; Shri Tapas Roy, Hon'ble Minister-in-Charge, Industry, Commerce & Enterprises, Government of West Bengal; Shri Samik Bhattacharya, Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha; Dr. Ashok Lahiri, Vice Chairman, NITI Aayog; Shri Subrata Gupta, Chief Advisor to the Hon'ble Chief Minister, Government of West Bengal & other high-level government officials and other prominent voices from the business and policy ecosystem. Their presence will add to the discussions on the opportunities and challenges shaping Bengal's business environment. It will also bring together entrepreneurs, MSMEs, startups, professionals, investors, academicians and business leaders for a day of discussions around Bengal's economic growth, business opportunities and the future of the state's industry.
The objective will be to foster entrepreneurship and position West Bengal as a competitive, investment-friendly and business-enabling state. The conclave will also focus on identifying key gaps in the state’s business environment and exploring practical, time-bound measures to address them, while creating greater opportunities for existing businesses, MSMEs, entrepreneurs and emerging industries. The industry forum will seek to reinforce the message that a Viksit Bharat is not possible without a Viksit West Bengal, underscoring the state’s critical role in India’s broader economic growth and development.
“West Bengal has a strong base of established businesses, MSMEs and entrepreneurs, but there is a need to address the challenges that are affecting their growth and competitiveness. Through this convention, we want to bring these issues into a wider discussion and explore practical solutions that can improve the ease of doing business, support existing industries and create opportunities for new-generation businesses. Our objective is to build a stronger and more competitive business ecosystem in West Bengal," said Shri Chandra Shekhar Ghosh, President, Bengal Business Council.
“For West Bengal to achieve sustained economic growth, it is important to create the right conditions for both existing and emerging businesses. We need to address the challenges faced by MSMEs, encourage entrepreneurship, attract new investments and ensure that businesses have a level playing field with other states. The convention will provide an opportunity to discuss these priorities with different stakeholders and identify areas where collective efforts can contribute to a stronger business environment in Bengal," said Shri Avishek Auddy, Chairman, Bengal Business Council.
For the first time, the convention will be open to the wider business community, allowing a larger group of entrepreneurs, professionals, startups and aspiring business leaders to participate. It will also provide opportunities for networking and meaningful business connections.
The convention will also feature a Business Exhibition and Innovation Showcase, allowing participating businesses and emerging enterprises to present their work, ideas and innovations to fellow members of the business community.
Building on the success of its previous conventions, the fourth edition will mark a larger effort by BBC to create a platform where the business community can interact with policymakers, government representatives and industry leaders.
