The Rajasthan Assembly on Saturday passed a resolution against the controversial Citizenship Amendment Act.

The Congress-ruled state has become the third state to pass a resolution against the CAA following Kerala and Punjab.

Kerala was the first state to pass a resolution against a law on the grounds that it "violates the fundamental principles of the Constitution and it has great significance."

It was followed by Punjab on January 17, with Chief Minister Capatin Amarinder Singh saying that his government would not allow the implementation of the "brazenly divisive CAA".

West Bengal is next in line to move a resolution against the new citizenship law in the state Assembly on January 27.

"The resolution will be brought at 11 a.m. on January 27," state Parliamentary Affairs Minister Partha Chatterjee was quoted as saying earlier this week.
