 Cricketer-turned-politician and BJP MP Gautam Gambhir on Tuesday came down heavily on those provoking violence in Delhi and said no matter who the person is or what his/her political affiliations are, strict action should be taken against him. (Catch live updates on Delhi violence here)

Speaking to ANI, when Gambhir was asked to react to party colleague Kapil Mishra's speech, he said, "If he (Mishra) has given any provoking speech, then strict action should be taken against him."

On Sunday afternoon, Mishra said he gave "ultimatum" to the police to remove anti-CAA protests blocking roads in Northeast Delhi within three days and he would not let the demonstration turn into another Shaheen Bagh.

Mishra led a demonstration before clashes erupted between pro and anti-CAA groups near Jaffrabad in northeast Delhi, where a large number of people who have been protesting against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act had blocked a road since Saturday night.

Fresh violence was reported from parts of northeast Delhi on Tuesday with mobs vandalising shuttered shops and pelting stones, news agency PTI reported.
