I Used The Word 'Extremism' Not 'Terror', Says Kamal Haasan Amid Controversy On Alleged 'Hindu Terror' Remarks

National award winning actor Kamal Haasan who was mired in a controversy after allegedly saying that 'Hindu terror' does exist in a column he wrote in a Tamil magazine today said he meant 'extremism' and not 'terror' in the column. 

"I did not use the word terror, the word I used was 'extreme',  like some of my fans who love me." he said.

"I definitely don't want to hurt Hindu sentiments, as I myself belong to a Hindu family,but have taken a different path, " he further said . 

Haasan, who turns 63 today,  launched a mobile app and said it was his 'first step' to politics.

"This app will be a sort of a whistleblower platform, will be used wherever wrong happens. Will strive to achieve justice," he said about the app, adding that it will be more of a platform for public.

 On questions about his joining politics, Haasan said "groundwork" has to be done. 

"Looking at the larger goal, longer time, so have to make the party ready for it. Working on structural part," he said. 

"Everyone is saying that the name of the political party will be revealed on my birthday, November 7. But how can I name a child without giving birth to it first," he said on Monday.
