Separatist leader, Syed Ali Geelani, on Wednesday, addressed Kashmir Conference hosted by National University of Modern Languages, Islamabad, Pakistan, from Srinagar.
Geelani in his speech accused India of trying to change “demographic status of State”. “Conspiracies are being hatched to settle non-Kashmiri Hindus and refugees from the West Pakistan in Kashmir valley so that Muslims are reduced to a minority.”
Geelani said Kashmir was in the grip of political turmoil and violence has become a daily occurrence.
“Jammu and Kashmir is a highly militarized zone of the world and in presence of 7.5 lakh Indian forces and people are living a miserable life and are under constant threat,” he said.

In his inaugural speech Geelani called Instrument of Accession as a fraud.  Maharaja, he said, was fleeing from state and had no legitimate right of Accession.
“India has given commitment to people of Kashmir. It was India and not Pakistan which took the case to the UN that people of J&K would be given the right to self-determination. That resolution was accepted by both India and Pakistan and the world community is witness to it”, he said.
“Kashmir issue is unfinished agenda of the partition and we were never asked to avail opportunity to decide our political destiny.”
He said Indian authorities were desperate to change narrative of Kashmir issue. He said people in the State are facing horrendous situation, “disproportionate military might, detentions and unabated killings” have become routine.

In the speech Geelani alleged people in Jammu and Kashmir were being targeted, “maimed arrested, blinded, bruised and killed.”
Geelani said New Delhi had never been sincere in resolving the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the Kashmiris’ aspirations through peaceful means. He said the international community was “cognizant of the fact that the people of Kashmir were engaged in a peaceful struggle to secure their inalienable right to self-determination.” “No one would be allowed to sabotage the liberation movement, which would be taken to its logical conclusion despite all odds.”
