An earthquake of 4.2 magnitude on the Richter scale hit Rajasthan and nearby areas, the Met department said in Jaipur.
Jodhpur was the epicentre of the earthquake, it said.
The tremors of the quake, which lasted for a few seconds, created panic among people.
Police, however, said that there were no reports of any loss of life.
