3 Soldiers Injured, Driver Killed After Militants Attack Army Patrol Unit

On Thursday, three soldiers were injured in a militant strike on Army's Sumo vehicles at Kellora Shopian, Kashmir, sources said.

The attack was carried out on the army personnel of 62 Rasthriya Rifles who were part of search operation at Shopian. A driver of Sumo, who had sustained bullets, succumbed to his injuries, the sources said. The victime was a local resident.

The sources said the attack was carried out on an army convoy which was part of Shopian search operation. The operation ended at 3 p.m. After the operation, the soldiers were returning to their camps. Meanwhile, encounter between the army and militants have started in khadwani area of Kulgam, around 70 km south of Srinagar.

The sources said the encounter started after police and the army cordoned off the area and started the operation.
