Sports Highlights, July 16: Sen, Sat-Chi Through To Japan Open Round 2, Sindhu Out; NL Win MLB All-Star Game

National League has taken a 5-0 lead with a three-run bottom of the sixth. Ohtani and Acuna Jr had scored through a Marte RBI in the first inning to give National League 2-0 lead which they maintained before finding three runs through an Alonso home run in the sixth. Now, American League are five down and will be looking for a big comeback to stay alive in this game.

Another home run. This time it brings just one as Corbin Caroll smashes this one out of the park for a solo home run. Pressure just keeps piling up on the AL pitchers who are now six behind.

Rooker launches a three-run home run to bring American League back into the game in the top of the seventh and then Garcia manages to add another run via an RBI ground out for Bobby Witt Jr.

Meanwhile, in the WNBA, Indiana Fever have registered an 85-77 win over Connecticut Sun. Fever led by just two points at the end of the third quarter but a final-quarter flourish saw them race away with the lead and clinch victory.

American League have drawn level in the top of the eighth. We go to the bottom of the ninth with tied scores.

It is a tie as National League batters are all gone without even a hit in the bottom of the ninth and both teams are tied at 6-6 after all nine inning. We are into the first ever home run swing off to decide the All-Star Game.

Lakshya Sen is in action in the opening round of Japan Open and he has won the first game against China's Zheng Xing Wang. Sen won the opening game 21-11 and now we are into the second round.

National League have won the first ever home-run swing-off to clinch the MLB 2025 All-Star Game after the regular match ended 6-6.

Lakshya Sen is through to the second round of Japan Open and so is the men's doubles pairing of Satwik-Chirag. Sen and Satwik-Chirag won their opening round matches with ease and will now be in action tomorrow in the second round.

India, July 16, 2025: Pokémon partnered with Gujarat Titans for the league season of 2025, bringing smiles to the faces of junior and senior players alike. Pikachu’s appearance at training sessions as well as home games added an electrifying energy to the atmosphere.

In the pre-season period, Pokémon was integrated into the franchise’s Junior Titans program – a first of its kind and scale grassroots initiative that promotes sports and an active lifestyle amongst children below the age of 14; spanning across 5 cities in Gujarat. The Pokémon team visited two centres during the course of the program,where exciting Pokémon gifts were distributed. The pinnacle of the partnership’s activation here was the surprise visit by Pikachu to the Ahmedabad centre; where Pikachu led the warm up activities for the day with Radio Taiso Number One met with great joy by the participating children.

During the season, Pokémon set up a booth decorated with Pokémon art at Narendra Modi Stadium. About 42,000 people visited the booth over the seven home-game days. Pikachu wearing a Gujarat Titans jersey was present at the booth to interact and take pictures with visitors on most home-game days. Visitors also received free stickers of Pikachu to take back home as mementos. Some lucky kids from Junior Titans were also invited to the stadium to meet Pikachu wearing a Gujarat Titans jersey.

PV Sindhu has lost her first-round clash in yet another setback for one India's greatest shuttlers. The 30-year-old went down 15-21, 14-21 to Korea's Sim Yu Jin in the Super 750 Japan Open, marking her fifth first-round exit this year.
