Neeraj Chopra clinched gold in front of a roaring 14,000-strong crowd at Bengaluru’s Sree Kanteerava Stadium. The World Athletics Continental Tour Gold-level event featured top global names. Kenya’s Julius Yego took silver with a season-best 84.51m, while Sri Lanka’s rising talent Rumesh Pathirage claimed bronze with 84.34m. Germany’s Olympic champion Thomas Rohler had an off day and missed the top eight. The two-time Olympic medallist has done it again -- Neeraj Chopra took home the gold medal at the inaugural Neeraj Chopra Classic 2025, the first international javelin event ever held in India and fittingly named after him.

On a night full of forceful winds around Bengaluru Neeraj gave fans exactly what they came for. The ‘Goldman of India’ clinched the gold with 86.18m throw.

Julius Yego of Kenya claimed the silver with his season best 84.51m throw.

The 22-year-old Rumesh Pathirage from Sri Lanka bagged the bronze with 84.34m throw.

"It feels great that such an event is happening in India and that such good athletes have come here to compete together. I am very excited for this event. Organising and playing together is tough. I have always focused on playing, but now I have to take care of everything. As an organiser, I have to think about all these small things. I like it. Thank you to the Karnataka Government and everyone supporting us. A big thank you to the JSW team for their support--they are working very hard with us," Neeraj Chopra said in the post-event interview.

Neeraj Chopra Classic 2025 LIVE Updates: What About Others In Indian Contingent?

Apart from Chopra, India’s Sachin Yadav (82.33m) and Yashvir Singh (79.65m) also made it to the last eight stage. Yadav was even in medal contention till Yego came up with his season-best throw in the fourth attempt to leapfrog to second spot.

The other two in the Indian contingent was Sahil Silwal and Rohit Yadav who could not qualify for the top eight.

Sahil and Rohit Yadav got off to a steady start, recording throws of 77.48m and 77.11m respectively in the opening round. In the second, both dipped slightly with Sahil managing 75.55m while Rohit registered 75.28m. However, they ended up with foul throws in the third round.
