Fourth-ranked flyweight Muay Thai contender Kongthoranee Sor Sommai will look to defend his spot in the rankings when he squares off against undefeated sensation Aslamjon Ortikov at ONE Fight Night 36 on Friday, October 3.

Competing live in U.S. primetime from the iconic Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, both men step into this contest with plenty to gain and much to lose.

For the 28-year-old Kongthoranee, this matchup represents an opportunity for him to return to the winner’s column and maintain his position atop the loaded flyweight Muay Thai division.

The former two-time Rajadamnern Stadium Muay Thai World Champion saw his three-fight winning streak come to an end against former ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Champion Nong-O Hama in their rematch in the main event of ONE Fight Night 31 this past May.

Just three months before that, however, the Sor Sommai affiliate registered the biggest victory of his career when he eked out a split-decision triumph over the living legend.

The two-chapter rivalry with his Thai compatriot aside, Kongthoranee has been one of the organization’s most consistent performers since he donned the 4-ounce gloves in the world’s largest martial arts organization.

The hard-hitter enjoys an impressive 11-3 promotional record, which includes a run of seven straight victories that culminated with his US$100,000 contract-winning display against Jaosuayai Mor Krungthepthonburi at ONE Friday Fights 58 in April 2025.

With over 80 professional fights to his name, a wealth of experience competing against world-class opposition, and a cracking left hand, Kongthoranee will fancy his chances in the Thai capital this October.

Top-Five Rankings Position At Stake For Kongthoranee And Ortikov

Standing in Kongthoranee Sor Sommai’s path to victory inside the Mecca of Muay Thai is Aslamjon Ortikov, who’s fired up to protect his pristine slate. With an overall professional record of 22-0, Ortikov is primed to hit the ground running for his U.S. primetime debut.

The Uzbek warrior enjoyed a perfect 8-0 run during his time at ONE Friday Fights. Most recently, he defeated Petsukumvit Boi Bangna via third-round TKO in June to earn his six-figure contract.

He dropped the seasoned Thai with an unorthodox combination before sealing the deal with a stabbing push kick to the midsection at the 2:33 mark of the third stanza. That served as his fourth highlight-reel stoppage win in ONE.

Still only 22 years old, the Uzbek dynamo brings an ultra-aggressive style with knockout power at his fingertips, and his approach to combat will mesh well with Kongthoranee’s counter-striking excellence and ability to stay composed under pressure.

A win over someone of the Thai’s caliber could catapult Ortikov into the upper echelon of the division.

For Kongthoranee, a convincing performance against the undefeated standout could position him perfectly for another high-profile matchup as he continues his pursuit of the vacant ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Championship.
