The vacant ONE Women’s Strawweight Muay Thai World Title will be up for grabs in the main event of ONE Fight Night 35 on Prime Video.
On September 5 in U.S. primetime, reigning ONE Women’s Strawweight Kickboxing World Champion Jackie Buntan will aim for two-sport glory when she meets surging Austrian phenom Stella Hemetsberger at the iconic Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
The 27-year-old Buntan has enjoyed a near-flawless run in the world’s largest martial arts organization. She made her promotional debut back in 2021 and quickly rattled off a trio of dominant victories.
In April 2022, the Filipino-American squared off with Smilla Sundell for the inaugural ONE Women’s Strawweight Muay Thai World Title, and despite putting forth a valiant effort, she ultimately dropped a unanimous decision victory.
Undeterred, Buntan returned to the training room, tightened up any holes in her game, and bounced back to her winning ways.
After piecing together another three-fight winning streak, she scored an unforgettable decision victory over legendary veteran Anissa Meksen to capture the inaugural strawweight kickboxing gold, marking the greatest achievement of her professional career.
The Boxing Works representative is now in prime position to become a rare two-sport ONE World Champion, but she will need to get past an extremely skilled opponent at ONE Fight Night 35.
For her part, Hemetsberger enjoyed a decorated amateur career before rapidly shooting up the professional ranks.
She debuted in ONE last October at ONE Friday Fights 82, where she scored a thrilling decision victory over Chellina Chirino to announce her presence in the world’s largest martial arts organization.
Hemetsberger would next pick up another decision win, followed by a sensational first-round stoppage over Vanessa Romanowski in April.
With that knockout, the 25-year-old earned a six-figure contract and a spot on ONE Championship’s global roster while continuing to prove that she is ready to challenge the planet’s top strikers.
The World Title clash between Hemetsberger and Buntan promises white-knuckle action for as long as it lasts.
While the Californian is a devastatingly powerful puncher with expert timing and veteran savvy beyond her years, Hemetsberger is a high-volume pressure fighter who will look to consistently force Buntan on the back foot.
And given the high-stakes nature of this matchup, fans can look forward to an all-out war on September 5.
