Anatoly Malykhin’s protege, Ibragim Dauev, has an opportunity to earn his second victory in five weeks at ONE Fight Night 33 on Prime Video this Friday, July 11.
The Russian will face undefeated Brazilian standout Pedro “Guerreiro” Dantas at the U.S. primetime event, which emanates live from the legendary Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
Dauev replaces #4-ranked featherweight MMA contender Ilya Freymanov, who withdrew from the contest due to personal reasons.
Dauev has a chance to continue his brilliant campaign in ONE Championship, as well as make some noise in the promotion’s stacked featherweight MMA division at ONE Fight Night 33.
The 24-year-old Russian juggernaut is a well-rounded athlete who owns a 10-1 professional record with a 70 percent finishing rate. What’s more, he is riding a nine-bout winning streak, which includes a spectacular victory over ONE Warrior Series contract winner Mark “Tyson” Abelardo.
Most recently, Dauev engaged in a thrilling back-and-forth war with compatriot Magomed Akaev at ONE Fight Night 32 last month and emerged with a split-decision victory. In the process, he handed his countryman the first loss of his career.
At ONE Fight Night 33 this Friday, he’ll welcome Dantas to the world’s largest martial arts organization, and that will be a difficult assignment for anyone.
Dantas is a second-generation MMA fighter who owns a spotless 6-0 professional record. The 22-year-old Brazilian has also developed a reputation as a finisher, having stopped all of his opponents in the first two rounds.
Both men are incredibly hungry to make their mark on the global stage, and a victory will put the winner closer to the top-five featherweight MMA rankings.
