The main event of ONE Fight Night 33 on Prime Video will see reigning ONE Women’s Atomweight Muay Thai World Champion Allycia Hellen Rodrigues put her gold on the line against decorated Swedish star Johanna Persson at the historic Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
Set for U.S. primetime on Friday, July 11, that World Title clash pits one of Muay Thai’s most dominant champions against a woman widely recognized as Europe’s top current striker.
Rodrigues burst onto the global stage back in 2020 when she stunned Thai megastar Stamp Fairtex to capture the atomweight Muay Thai crown. That sterling performance turned her into an overnight sensation and established her place at the pinnacle of the sport.
The Brazilian has since been unstoppable at atomweight, employing her elite fight IQ, thunderous kicks, and vicious clinch game to successfully defend her belt three times.
In her most recent outing, Rodrigues turned in perhaps the most impressive showing of her 41-fight professional career, stopping respected veteran Marie McManamon in the fourth round at ONE Fight Night 29.
However, Persson could be the woman to end Rodrigues’s reign of terror.
The 30-year-old Swede boasts a jam-packed trophy case that includes WBC and ISKA World Titles, as well as numerous European, Nordic, and Swedish titles.
That dominance on the European circuit earned Persson this call-up to ONE Championship – and showed that she’s a serious threat to take Rodrigues’ gold.
Indeed, Persson’s forward-marching aggression, clean combination striking, and gritty clinch attack could give the titleholder plenty of problems at ONE Fight Night 33, but she will need to overcome a woman who has sat atop the throne for years.
