After the Indian men's hockey team won the Asian Champions Trophy in Chennai in August, expectations from them are ripe at the Asian Games 2023, and nothing less than gold, which guarantees an Olympic berth, will satisfy the Harmanpreet Singh-led side. They have embarked on that mission in right earnest, winning their first four games without breaking a sweat. Having secured their spot in the semifinals after thrashing Pakistan 10-2, the Indian men's hockey team kept the winning run going against Bangladesh in their last Pool A encounter, thrashing their eastern neighbours 12-0. The hooter finally rings out, much to the relief of Bangladesh's defence. India have sent 12 past them and not conceded any goal, to end their group-stage campaign on a high.

Abhishek scores another one! India leave Bangladesh defenders breathless with strikes within seconds. Gurjant threads in a pinpoint pass to Abhishek in the D, who calmly converts.

Third quarter ends. India have added two more goals in the quarter to take it to 8-0. It remains to be seen whether they can maintain a clean sheet in this game, something they haven't been able to do in the last couple of matches.

Harmanpreet gets his hat-trick! Too easy for India's drag-flick specialist. He slots it in and smiles immediately, indicating he did not hit it quite as well as he would have liked. Still gets the goal and the hat-trick.

Second quarter ends, with India leading 6-0. The Indians are looking in the mood to score more than 10 goals. It's more of a question of who and how than when. Bangladesh need to tighten their defence in the second half to prevent that from happening.

Mandeep scores! The ace India forward makes no mistake as Abhishek unselfishly passes the ball to him inside the D. Goof team goal that came from open play, a positive sign for India going forward in the event.

The first quarter ends. India took their foot off the pedal a bit after the two early goals but Bangladesh too did well to keep them at bay. India still hogging most of the possession and well in control of proceedings.
