Powered by a ton from Josh Inglis, Australia set India a target of 209 runs, which the Men in Blue chased down with one ball to spare after a sensational display by captain Surya earlier. The Indian stand-in skipper made 80 off 42 as India chased down their biggest-ever target in T20Is.

Trivandrum will host the second T20 game between the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 finalists, while Guwahati the third. Nagpur and Hyderabad will round off the five-game series.
