Australia dominated day three of their second Test against West Indies in Grenada after crucial scores from Steve Smith and Cameron Green.

In a day interrupted by rain delays and bad lighting, Australia battled their way through the 58.3 overs bowled to gain a 254-run lead.

Nightwatchman Nathan Lyon (eight) fell early in the day, but Green (52) and Smith (71) put on a 93-run partnership on a difficult batting surface.

Shamar Joseph (2-52) ended their stand by dismissing Green, and then picked up the vital wicket of Travis Head (39) late in the day.

Alex Carey (26 not out) and Pat Cummins (four not out) will start at the crease on day four on 221-7 as they look to set their hosts a daunting target.

Jayden Seales (2-29) failed to build on his two wickets from day two, but managed to keep the run rate to a minimum, bowling at an economy rate of 1.81.

Data Debrief: Batters struggles continue

Smith's 71 off 119 balls featured seven fours and one six. It is the second-highest score of the match after Brandon King's 75 in West Indies' first innings.

None of the batters have managed to reach a century so far, with the bowlers currently thriving in the conditions, with Justin Greaves also taking two wickets, including Smith, on Saturday.

Carey will be looking to help improve Australia's position as he did in the first innings - he has already scored 451 runs in Test matches in 2025, with 89 of those coming in this match.
