The India vs Pakistan, World Championship of Legends (WCL) 2025 match that was scheduled for Sunday, 20 July 2025 at Edgbaston Cricket Ground, Birmingham, was cancelled by the organisers. This comes after several members of the Indian Cricket Legends team reportedly pulled out of the fixture, including Shikhar Dhawan, Harbhajan Singh, Suresh Raina, and Yusuf Pathan.
As a result, the WCL 2025 organisers issued a statement confirming the cancellation of the match. “We at WCL have always cherished and loved cricket, and our only aim has been to give fans some good, happy moments,” the statement read.
“After hearing the news that the Pakistan hockey team will be coming to India this year and seeing the recent India vs Pakistan volleyball match along with a few other fixtures between the two nations in different sports, we thought of continuing with the India vs Pakistan match at WCL … But maybe in the process, we ended up hurting the feelings of many and stirring emotions.”
This move comes after Shikhar Dhawan, who is an opener for the Indian Cricket Legends team, put out a statement on social media confirming that he “will not be participating in any matches against the Pakistan team in the upcoming WCL League”.
