Hello, we’re back with another live blog! It’s India vs Sri Lanka, Day 2 of the much-awaited second Test at Colombo, so stay tuned for all the live updates.

The 2nd Test between India and Sri Lanka will be telecast live on the Star Sports Network and will be streamed live on the Sony LIV app and website in India. The live action of Day 2 will begin at 10:00 AM IST.

India ended Day 1 of the second Test against Sri Lanka in a strong position at 300/5, thanks largely to Devdutt Padikkal’s superb 117. After winning the toss and batting first, India lost wickets at regular intervals, while Rishabh Pant was forced to retire hurt after being struck on the forearm. Padikkal, however, held the innings together despite being dropped twice early on 0 and 1, registering his second Test century. Dhruv Jurel (7) and debutant Saransh Jain (4)** were unbeaten at stumps as India looked to build a big first-innings total on Day 2.

Kuldeep Yadav’s absence has been clarified! India batting coach Sitanshu Kotak has dismissed speculation over the spinner’s omission, insisting there was no “fake” illness involved and that Kuldeep was genuinely unwell with viral fever.

Kotak also confirmed that Kuldeep has recovered reasonably well from the viral infection but was not fit enough to be considered for the Colombo Test. India instead handed off-spinner Saransh Jain his debut, with the presence of several left-handers in Sri Lanka’s top order also influencing the selection call.

India have received a positive sign ahead of Day 2, with batting coach Sitanshu Kotak confirming that the wicketkeeper-batter is expected to be fit to resume his innings after his injury scare on the opening day.

Pant was struck on the left wrist by Lahiru Kumara’s 133 kph short ball while attempting a pull shot and retired hurt on 3. However, Kotak said the move was precautionary, with the wicketkeeper-batter already padded up again before stumps and expected to resume his innings if required on Day 2.

The players are out in the middle, and we are all set for live action. Lahiru Kumara has the ball in hand to begin proceedings, with two slips and a gully waiting for an early breakthrough. Here we go!

Jain tries to tuck it away but only manages a leading edge towards gully, where Kamil Mishara dives smartly to his left to complete a fine catch. Saransh Jain departs for 6 off 8 balls, and Rishabh Pant is the new man at the crease!

Dhruv Jurel is looking solid on 24 off 50, while Rishabh Pant has moved to 18 off 37 as the pair continues to rebuild the innings.

Also, Injury concern for Rishabh Pant! The physio is back out in the middle, and Pant is receiving treatment once again. He had walked off on Day 1 after taking a blow to his wrist, and this time, the physio is applying an ice pack to his right shoulder. Pant appears to be getting some attention before play resumes.

Rishabh Pant and Dhruv Jurel are building a valuable partnership, with Pant on 31 off 53 balls and Jurel unbeaten on 32 off 58. The duo has added runs at a good pace, helping India strengthen their position after the early wickets. Asitha Fernando continues to lead Sri Lanka’s bowling effort with figures of 4/60 from 21 overs.

India move to 389/6 after 107 overs! Rishabh Pant and Dhruv Jurel are inching closer to their half-centuries, with both unbeaten on 46. The pair has continued to frustrate Sri Lanka with a solid partnership, while Keshara Nuwantha has figures of 1/126 from 31 overs. The next milestone is just four runs away for both batters!

The left-hander brings up his 21st Test half-century in style! Keshara Nuwantha drops it short, and Pant is quick to pounce, swivelling across to hammer a powerful pull past mid-wicket for four. What a way to reach the milestone! Pant moves to 51 off 82 balls, while Dhruv Jurel is on 49, with India reaching 397/6.

Jurel moves to 55 off 101 balls, while Rishabh Pant remains unbeaten on 51 as India reach 403/6 after 110 overs.

India are in a commanding position at 419/6 after 112 overs. Rishabh Pant has accelerated to 63 off 88 balls, while Dhruv Jurel is unbeaten on 59 off 107. The duo has stitched together a brilliant partnership, taking India beyond 400 and frustrating the Sri Lankan bowlers as the visitors head into the break firmly in control.

Rishabh Pant falls just after the break! What a dream start for Sri Lanka as Pant goes for an ambitious shot off the very first ball of the session. He charges down the track and smacks Keshara Nuwantha's flighted delivery towards deep mid-off, but Lahiru Udara holds on to a sharp catch. Pant departs for 63 off 89 balls, and Sri Lanka have finally broken the crucial partnership!

Jurel continues to hold firm! Dhruv Jurel is closing in on a well-deserved century, unbeaten on 72 off 116 balls, as India move to 438/7 after 118 overs. With Manav Suthar giving him company on 6, the responsibility is now firmly on Jurel to stretch India’s total further and turn his promising knock into something special.

Sri Lanka finally get another breakthrough as Manav Suthar departs for 18 off 51 balls. Prabath Jayasuriya, who had toiled hard without success, finally gets his reward as Suthar edges one behind to Niroshan Dickwella. India are now 458/8, with Dhruv Jurel continuing to hold one end.

Early tea has been taken at the SSC with India on 475/8. Dhruv Jurel remains unbeaten on 95 after flicking a full toss for four, moving within touching distance of his second Test century. With the skies darkening and rain arriving, the players have been forced off the field. India added 56 runs after lunch and will hope play resumes so Jurel can complete his century.

The rain has stopped, and the ground staff are back out, beginning the process of removing the covers. There is still plenty of water to clear, but the skies are looking brighter. Tea has already been taken, and although there was a brief drizzle, fingers crossed that play can resume soon!

Play has remained temporarily halted as a slight drizzle has returned to the venue, prompting the ground staff to bring the covers back on.

Fortunately, it is only a light drizzle at the moment, and players and fans alike will be hoping it passes quickly so that the exciting action on the field can resume without significant delay.

The rain has completely stopped, and the ground staff are swiftly removing the covers. With clear skies now overhead, conditions are improving rapidly, and play is expected to resume shortly.

The rain delay could be nearing its end as most of the covers have now been removed. The umpires are currently walking out onto the field to conduct a formal pitch and outfield inspection.

Meanwhile, ground staff are delicately clearing the remaining cover near the boundary at the media box end, which still holds a significant amount of accumulated water on top. A final assessment on a resumption time is expected shortly.

Good news from the venue! A resumption time has officially been locked in, with play set to get back underway at 4:25 PM. The session will run until 6:00 PM, provided that light and weather conditions remain favorable.

Dhruv Jurel has fought through high tension to bring up a brilliant second Test hundred for India!

Facing Asitha Fernando, the Indian number 7 drove a pitched-up delivery hard into the ground, bouncing it over the bowler's head before calling for a quick single. A dramatic moment ensued as the fielder at mid-off swooped in for a direct hit with all three stumps to aim at, but missed—letting Jurel through safely.

The centurion immediately punched the air in delight, removed his helmet to soak in the applause, and shared a warm, joyful embrace with batting partner Mohammed Siraj.

India have lost their ninth wicket as Mohammed Siraj departs for 3 off 29 balls, falling lbw to Prabath Jayasuriya.

Looking to score off a full and straight delivery, Siraj swung across the line and completely missed, taking a blow low on his bent back-pad right in front of the stumps. Though India sent it upstairs using a review, it proved to be a desperate gamble as Hawkeye confirmed three reds. Knowing his fate, Siraj had already begun walking toward the pavilion as the decision was flashed on the screen, leaving Sri Lanka just one wicket away from wrapping up the innings.

India have officially declared their first-innings total at 500 on Day 2 in Colombo!

The milestone boundary came courtesy of Prasidh Krishna, who feasted on a low full-toss from Asitha Fernando, scything a brilliant drive through cover that raced away to the ropes. With the 500-run mark safely breached following Dhruv Jurel's magnificent century, the Indian bench immediately signaled the declaration, putting an end to a stellar batting display.

The weather has closed in once again in Colombo! After a rapid darkening of the skies over the last few minutes, the ground staff have sprung into action to bring the covers back on.

Sri Lanka's openers have safely retreated to the pavilion, while the Indian players and umpires are currently lingering on the field as they wait out the sudden change in conditions.

Good news from the middle as conditions begin to improve in Colombo! The umpires have walked out to inspect the conditions, appearing visibly satisfied as they checked the skies and held a brief consultation with the chief groundsman.

After having a quick word with Indian captain Shubman Gill, the officials confirmed that play will officially resume at 5:35 PM local time, following a brief interruption caused by darkening skies and passing showers.

India strike early in the evening session! Prasidh Krishna draws first blood, removing Sri Lankan opener Lahiru Udara for 1 off 6 balls.

Hitting a back-of-a-length delivery around off stump that straightened off the deck, Prasidh squared up the batter. Udara could only edge it, and Yashasvi Jaiswal pulled off a fantastic catch at third slip to send the opener packing. Sri Lanka are on the back foot early in their reply.

India make further inroads before stumps! Manav Suthar picks up a crucial wicket, dismissing nightwatchman Prabath Jayasuriya for 2 off 7 balls.

Fired in close to yorker length by Suthar, Jayasuriya was late on his shot once again, getting struck low on the front pad right in front of middle stump. Though umpire Ahsan Raza took his time before raising the finger, and an unhappy Jayasuriya opted not to review, ball-tracking confirmed it was clipping leg stump. The on-field call stays, and Sri Lanka lose their nightwatchman as the pressure mounts.

While honors were largely shared on Day one, Day 2 belonged entirely to the visitors. After Dhruv Jurel’s magnificent lower-order century propelled India to a massive first-innings total of 500 followed by a swift declaration, the bowling attack capitalized instantly under the lights. Prasidh Krishna and Manav Suthar struck early blows to dismantle Sri Lanka's top order, leaving the hosts reeling before the close of play.
