Following an advanced premiere in Tokyo during which Chalamet praised Paul King's 'beautiful' script, the movie had its world premiere at the Southbank Center in London on November 28, 2023. Wonka's theatrical rollout will begin December 6 in the Philippines, Singapore, and Taiwan, kick-starting a global staggered release schedule throughout the first half of December. By December 15, you'd be hard-pressed to find a theater in the world that isn't showing the movie.

Warner Bros. doesn't have a standard window of time between theatrical and streaming releases; its last four films came to Max 49 days (The Nun 2), 91 days (Blue Beetle), 56 days (Meg 2), and 147 days (Barbie) after their theatrical debuts. Barbie's massive theatrical success makes it an outlier here, so our best guess puts Wonka on Max two to three months after it hits theaters, between February and March 2024.

Wonka is being distributed by Warner Bros. — meaning it will, indeed, join Max. Since the company no longer drops its movies on the streaming platform the same day they’re released in theaters, we are going to have to wait at least 45 days before we can watch from the comfort of our living rooms.
While there is no official streaming release date yet, Blue Beetle, another Warner Bros. movie, was released in theaters on Aug. 18 and didn’t make its way to Max until Nov. 17 — about three months after it debuted. If Wonka follows the same trajectory, it’s possible we won’t be able to stream it until mid-March 2024.
