Watch: Bengaluru Woman Jumps Off Speeding Rapido Bike To Escape Sexual Harassment

The rider reportedly snatched the woman’s phone saying he was checking the OTP but he instead changed her drop location from Indiranagar to Doddaballapura. He also allegedly tried to grope her.

A woman riding pillion on a bike booked via the Rapido cab-hailing app, jumped off the moving two-wheeler after the rider allegedly tried to grope her and snatched her phone. A video clip from the CCTV footage of the incident has gone viral on social media platforms.

According to media reports, the incident happened on the night of April 21 when the passenger booked a ride to Indiranagar. The accused – identified as Deepak – has been arrested.

In the CCTV footage, the woman was seen leaping off the bike and rolling on the road allegedly to escape molestation.

The rider snatched the woman’s phone saying he was checking the OTP but he instead changed her drop location from Indiranagar to Doddaballapura, Deccan Herald reported.

The woman tried to take her phone from him and also realised he was drunk. After wrestling for her phone a few times, the driver cranked up the speed and also allegedly groped her, as per the report. 

According to an NDTV report, the woman jumped off the speeding bike near the Abrar BMS college in Yelahanka area of the Karnataka capital. The security guard posted at the college rushed to help the woman. The rider fled the scene.

He was later arrested and sent to judicial custody.
