November 8: Meets Sharad Yadav, Ram Vilas Paswan, Mufti Mohammed Sayeed, S.R. Bommai individually and tells them to be "realistic". November 9: Meets Biju Patnaik and other leaders. Speaks to Mulayam on the phone and fixes a Biju-Mulayam meeting for the same evening. November 10: The PAC meeting scheduled for 4 pm gets postponed as VP wants a consensus before it. Deve Gowda, Sharad Yadav and Laloo Yadav meet VP. Bommai later joins the meeting.
The PAC meets at Bommai's residence but fails to reach a consensus. Deve Gowda, Laloo, Paswan, Biju Patnaik, Jaipal Reddy, Sharad Yadav and Mufti Mohammed Sayeed meet at V.P. Singh's house over dinner. A little after midnight the crisis in the JD is resolved.
