"There Is A Shared Goal And We Are Working Together"
How do you see Results 2004?

A Congress-led coalition is a bit unbelievable at this point.
I did not say the Congress-led coalition will form the government—it will be very difficult for the NDA to form one. The way this election is going, two entities, the Samajwadi Party and the BSP, hold the key.

Can you get the 1998 tally of 38 of 48 seats again?
I am aiming for that. The situation is more or less the same except that in 1998 the Republican Party was with us. When I travel I see that both NCP and Congress workers are happy about the alliance. Also, they have seen the benefit that goes to Shiv Sena-BJP when we are apart.

Is this election all about the art of campaign management?
That is not true at all. Wherever I have travelled, issues are at the top of people’s mind. Drought is a very big issue, unemployment too. For the farmer and industrial worker, this government does not feel like their own.

Are you comfortable with Sonia Gandhi now?
There is a shared goal and we are working together. There may be some joint campaigning, let’s see.
