Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has pledged robust support for gig workers, including those engaged in food delivery, cab driving, and autorickshaw services.

During a meeting with cab and autorickshaw drivers, as well as food delivery executives, the chief minister revealed that the state government is set to provide a generous Rs 5 lakh accident insurance for these workers.

An official release on Saturday highlighted the chief minister's commitment to ensuring the well-being of gig workers. In addition to the accident insurance, Reddy assured workers of a substantial Rs 10 lakh health cover under the Rajiv Arogyasri scheme.

This move is part of the state government's broader initiative to extend social security to unorganized sector employees, with a policy decision in the pipeline.

Furthermore, Reddy expressed the government's intent to study the existing policy framework for gig workers in Rajasthan and incorporate effective measures in the upcoming state budget session.

In a gesture of compassion, the chief minister announced financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh for the family of a food delivery executive who tragically lost his life four months ago in a fall from a building.

To streamline the support process, Reddy advised cab and autorickshaw drivers, as well as food delivery executives, to submit their applications either online or physically during the Grama Sabhas scheduled to take place from December 28 to January 6.

The meeting, attended by prominent figures such as IT and Industries minister D Sridhar Babu, marks a crucial step in addressing the needs of gig workers and providing them with comprehensive social and financial security.
