Passenger Bus Falls Into Ditch Killing 6, Injuring 27 Others In Nainital

The bus carried tourists from Haryana who were returning after their Nainital visit when the accident happened. The local police and State Disaster Response Force teams rescued the victims and started the relief operation soon.

On Sunday, an accident occurred in the Kaladhungi area of Nainital district, resulting in the loss of six lives and leaving 27 individuals injured. The incident involved a bus that was transporting tourists from Hisar district in Haryana.

According to the information received from the Nainital District Control Room, the tourists were returning after visiting Nainital, when their bus fell into a 100-metre-deep gorge in the Nalni area of Kaladhungi.

Six tourists died and 27 others were injured in the accident that happened around 8 pm, according to the information. 

There were 33 passengers on the bus at the time of the accident.

Police and State Disaster Response Force teams reached the spot and started rescue and relief operations.

Nainital SSP Prahlad Narayan Meena told PTI, "The bus was carrying 30-32 people. They were going to Hisar, Haryana when the accident took place. We have rescued 25 people till now."

Police said that the injured have been taken out of the ditch and taken to the hospital for treatment and the casualties are being identified.

The reasons for the accident are not known yet.
