Sundaram Ramakrishnan, director-general and a life-long force behind the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, at 81. A participant in Mahatma Gandhi’s 1940 satyagraha, he became Sardar Patel’s secretary after 1947. He was also influenced by the Kanchi peeth paramacharya.
