No New Nipah Cases In Last Four Days, 6 Tested Positive So Far, Says Kerala Health Minister

Kerala Health Minister Veena George has said that the condition of the Nipah patients who are hospitalised is stable including a 9-year-old boy who has clinically improved.

There have been no new cases of the Nipah virus in Kerala over the last four days according to Kerala Health Minister Veena George. She said that out of 323 people who were tested so far only six people tested positive and 11 people are in isolation.

Veena George on Wednesday made an announcement where she reportedly said, "No new Nipah cases have been reported in the last four days in the state." Further giving out the statistics of the tests conducted in the state, she said, "Out of the 323 samples tested, 317 samples tested negative and six samples tested positive till now. 11 persons in isolation and their test results are negative."

As per the latest reports, George told ANI that 61 samples were tested in Kerala yesterday evening and night and all of them came back negative.

She also informed the media about the condition of the patients infected with Nipah, she said, "The condition of the Nipah patients stable, as per the doctors’ report, the 9-year-old boy is improving clinically”.

Bengal man admitted with Nipah symptoms

A man from West Bengal who works as a labourer in Kerala was unwell and admitted to a hospital in the southern state and returned back home to the Burdwan district after discharge. But he again showed symptoms of Nipah and is now admitted to the Belaghata ID hospital in Kolkata.
